Why do certain groups of young men get shot by the police?

Interesting to note on this board the vast difference of opinion between this incident and one where a white, Nevada rancher broke the law and faced armed law enforcement (who did not even shoot the rancher).

I don't know the facts of the incident in St Louis beyond the different accounts from different witnesses which paint very different picyures of what happened. Its just interesting to note how some people on this board speculate the black punk had it coming....while the white rancher was standing up against an oppressive government. I say it is interesting but not surprising.

Come on PJ, pretty absurd to try and compare the two situations, they couldn't be further apart if you tried.
Oh I agree. The kid in Feruson was stopped for jaywalking. And unarmed.

One thing is for sure, when a police officer or any armed citizen approaches you on the street it is best to kiss their ass and sort it out later.

Speaking first hand as former long haired trouble maker, once the cops pulled you over it was yes sir and no sir, what can I do for you sir, I am so sorry sir.

One time when I wasn't in the car with my bro's they got pulled over basically for being a car load of long hairs. When the driver was outside of the car being questioned by the cop another of my old buddies got out of the car, even after the cop told everyone to stay in the car but the driver.

When my buddy approached the cop to see what the problem was the cop slammed his face into the trunk. When the cop found out my friend was under age he dropped him off in front of his mothers home and hauled ass. My friend had a broken nose and no front teeth. He was bleeding like a stuck pig. His mother was freaked out. No charges were brought against the cop.

The moral of the story, yes sir, no sir, can I kiss your ass sir. Then go home in one piece and forget about it or call a good attorney.

On a good note a couple of years later the same deputy pulled his service revolver and fired it inside his apartment during a domestic dispute with his wife. He wound up in a world of shit and kissed his career goodbye.
We have yet to really know the facts of this incident, but when some street thug who can hardly speak decipherable words tells a COMPLETELY different story than what the cop tells, only blacks could ever believe him. It's the Obama syndrome all over again. 95% of blacks would still vote for the asshole just because of his skin color. Never mind that the big O has almost single-handedly destroyed what little dignity the brothers have.

So how can anyone even come close to believing a street moron such as this? His hateful world is a simple 2D event: black & white.
If black people want to destroy their own neighborhood, then let it burn. Who really cares?

Absolutely. This is what dad preached when we were learning to drive.

We weren't of the generation of kids that roamed about looking for trouble, so it was primarily a part of the driving lessons...you get stopped, obey the cop no matter what.

Just like respect for school teachers, our parents expected it and if we got in trouble at school, God help US, not the teacher. No excuses accepted.

The shooting death of this young man in no way gives others the right to riot and plunder.
If anyone believes "hands up in the air" was the guy's only reaction, then you are just as naive as the other people who believe it. What the guy did before putting his hands up in the air is what I'd like to know.

Gee, I always thought that if you shot someone with their hands in the air - from 25 feet away - that was murder. I'd love to hear more about your moral code.

It is unfortunate forkush that the guy got shot and killed but it is also important to know what precipitated and prompted the cop to shoot. I really don't know and shouldn't speculate. But if the guy was docile, compliant, and put his hands up in the air, there would be no reason for the cop to shoot. Something had to have happened prior to the guy getting shot. It is pretty naive to believe that the guy had his hands in the air and got shot for no other reason.

Okay forkush since you're asking I will make up some scenarios just for you. But what if, let's just say the guy tried to take the cops gun away prior to getting shot. Or maybe the guy was assaulting the cop, knocked out the cop, and when the cop regained consciousness shot the guy? I really don't like to make up stories like this but because forkush asks these might be some reasons for shooting the guy. If I were the cop I would have shot the guy myself if any of my made up stories actually happened. On the other hand if the cop shot the guy for no other reason than the guy putting his hands up in the air then yes the cop was wrong.
Prior to writing my post above I hadn't been following this much and I was just making up scenarios. The one about taking away the cop's gun actually seems to be what happened. You'd have to be a fool to believe the black guy innocently had his "hands in the air." Plain foolish.

What do police say happened?

According to St. Louis County’s police chief: Brown was walking with a friend in the middle of the street when Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson tried to exit his vehicle. Brown pushed the officer back into the police car, then entered the car, and a struggle ensued over Wilson's weapon. A shot was fired inside the car. Wilson and Brown then exited the vehicle, and the fatal shooting occurred.
