Summer and all the off days during the school year isn't equal to 4 months off a year?

Maybe Kevin can help you add up the days.

By the same reckoning, Joe Shlabotnik, who works down at the widget factory, also gets 4 months off per year:

52 weekends: 104 days.

Two weeks' paid vacation (at least): 10 days (I'm not Tom, so I won't count the two relevant weekends twice)

Sick leave: 1 day per month (usually): 12 days

Federal and state holidays that don't fall on a weekend: 8 days, average

134 days. More like 4 1/2 months.

I'd point out that teachers' weekends, during the school year, are often consumed by work, but you'd just sneer at that in your silly ignorance. Joe gets to go home from the factory, crack open a beer, and watch the game. Teachers take home tons of work on the average weekend. Even if you foolishly deny that, it's true.

I don't know. Why was Earth invaded by millions of purple giraffes in 2020?

Your awful shit statement about why teachers stayed home is disgusting as well as stupidly wrong.

If you are claiming that summer break lasts 90 days, you are just lying.

If you are claiming that Christmas and Spring break add another month, you are just lying.

And if you run away from your claim without proving it or admitting your error, you are just being Jerry Ice. Always running away.

Our summer break lasted 70 days. Our Xmas break lasted 12 days. Our spring break lasted a week.

What Jerry (too stupid to understand) seems not to know is that a minimum number of classroom hours for each student is mandated, at all levels. Therefore, breaks as long as he thinks simply won't work.

Once again, he gets lost on a 10x10 stage.  Here is a hint; you get off the stage the same way you entered

Notice another huge (sarcasm) crowd. I think there were more secret service agents & staff than attendeees.

But don't worry he is off this afternoon to the beach until Monday night or Tuesday

Good point - is more like 6 months when you add up all the regular weekends.

It is a really easy job!

Everybody else had no problem going back to work.  Why not the teachers?  Simple question.

School year is 180 days, less 12 sick days, makes it 168.  In NY & other states unused sick days are paid out when one retires.  It is not unusual for someone to get a year's salary as a bonus when they retire.  Speaking of retirement there is the pension (often includes a COLA) and the low cost medical benefits.

School day is 6.5 hours which includes a lunch break & a "prep" period to do correct tests, homework & prep for a class.  Actual in class is about 5 hours.  Then there are stipends for coaching, clubs, lunch duty, before & after school supervision & chaperoning

So if they do 2 hours of additional prep work per day you get to an 8 hour day with significant more time off.

Jerry still hasn't proven that teachers get four months off a year. You know, by citing start and end of school year dates and vacation days other people don't get. I wonder why?

Hey, did someone hear a squeak over there!

The reality is I don't know any teachers that work just a 6.5 hour day. Most of them work more than 8. For the uninformed most school districts require teachers take on some sort of extracurricular activity often more than one. These extra duties are often unpaid and require weekend and summer work. Some even have to do this extra work over winter break.

In my district these extra requirements include things like coaching, assistant coaching, equipment managet, tutoring outside notmal school hours, supervising the kids up to an hour and a half before the first bell and three hours after the last.  Supervising kids at sports ball games, school dances, running various clubs ect.  Then you have the band, choir and flag kids that need supervision and have nuernours weekend and holiday time events.  That's just scratching the surface. Tell a teacher here that they only have to work 6.5 hours a day and they would laugh in your face. Hell, most of my daughter's teachers make themselves available online till 7 or 8 pm on weeknights and then on Saturdays and Sundays to answer questions via email from students about assignments and what not.
