Putting Chicago violence in perspective

No I wouldn't want to live in South Chicago - nor would I be such a simpleton as to suggest crime there is a product of local leadership.    They have variables to deal with in their neighborhood that you and I dont, Fritz.

How much section 8 housing is in your zipcode?   And when a homeless person get picked up for vagrancy in your zipcode they get released to a homeless shelter - in the city.   And so do the excons who get released from prison.    Thats by design.     And lets be honest - you wouldn't have it any other way.   Do you want section 8 housing on your block....or a soup kitchen....or a juvenile detention home?   No.    Those places are in the city - right where you want them.   So who are you kidding about wanting them elsewhere?  Or pretending you're surprised that yields more crime than the subdivisions around your local Costco?

And since we are on the topic of murders...

Before Wayne LapIerre got busted for spending all of the NRA's money on his tiger skin underwear his organization and allies in COngress preached that everyone being armed was the best way to fight crime.   The thinking was potential shooters would be reluctant to do so because their target (or someone else nearby) could shoot back.    How is that playing out in Chicago with the multitude of armed citizens shooting each other every day?

Can we agree Wayne Lapierre's ideology about guns is as fraudulent as his accounting practices?

So what pj is saying is that bad people cause crime. instead of no bail laws that put criminals back in the street the same day, A possible solution would be to put the bad people in jail,

I agree.  Not "everyone" has the requisite impulse control to avoid going for it when a threat (or insult) is perceived.  And some (many, apparently) adults do not secure their firearms away from children.   That guy's ideology is ridiculous.   JMHO.

PJ, let me cut through your liberal doublespeak........if you lived in an area where there were 68 murders within 2 miles of your home, what would you want the liberal democrats in charge to do to assist?  I'm pretty sure soup kitchens and section 8 housing would NOT be involved.

Well they sure aren't where you live.   I haven't seen any solutions offered by you or the Tucker Carlson crowd except to complain.   And thats after Donny Covid prompted the question "what do you have to lose?"

Let me cut through your conservaitve whiney talk that doesn offer any solutions of your own while demanding other people do.  I have a whole liittany of line items that I'm sure you will object to without offering an alternative:

- reform the police department so people feel secure calling the police instead of living in fear they will be shaken down by them

- much stricter  gun laws especially surrounding background checks, assault weapons, and extended clips.

- improve inner city schools 

- increase minimum wage so people can earn an honest living without having to resort to crime

- build bridges to private sector employers and low income neighborhoods

Most importantly - dont listen to people like Fritz who dont have the first clue  what life is like living in the inner city but play armchair quarterback from their Del Webb community in the suburbs.   

In NYC 911 calls for medical & police are over 4,000 per day. Fear of calling the police is another pj fantasy. 

Chicago & NYC already have strict gun laws. Criminals don't buy guns at Walmart. 

NYC already leads the nation in per student spending. 

Minimum wage has been going up as well as crime.

Solutions - when criminals are arrested don't let them out on no bail the same day.

True. But they do get them in Indiana, etc. Which is why Gary has triple the murder rate of Chicago.

PJ, since you apparently don't pay much attention......I grew up on the west side.  And worked in these areas most of my adult life.

You need to land this plane before it runs out of fuel.  Minimum wage concerns, improving schools, and building bridges with employers are items to be discussed.....but the killing needs to be stopped.

Yes my family and I worked hard and we had the option to leave this shooting gallery.  And I still want to see the mayhem stopped!

What would I do?  I'm glad you asked.  I would bring in the National Guard.  Not tomorrow.  Tonight!

Chicago already has the toughest gun laws in the country....but gang bangers don't follow your laws.  510 murders so far, with no end in sight.  I just would like to see these folks get some help.
