Putting Chicago violence in perspective

$80 million in Indiana state funding for small community sidewalks.  https://wslmradio.com/2016/10/03/salem-receiving-small-communities-sidewalk-grant-for-1188000-00/

$20 million in Indiana state funding for sewer, water and storm drainage.  https://www.in.gov/idem/4103.htm

Once again, Mark is making something of nothing.  Annual statewide projects for small communities totalling $100 million.

Indianapolis alone receives $225 million from the state for schools, and the kids can't read and write.  Teachers are not allowed to control unruly kids because Liberals won't allow what it takes.  Does Mark want IPS to be rewarded for continued failure?  Families on the west side of Indianapolis are fleeing these schools in favor of suburban schools.  My town's prep football team is getting faster at the skill positions each year.

Thought I'd revive this thread.  On September 1st, Chicago recorded its 500th murder of the year.  Today, 5 weeks later the slaughter totals 604.  As far as I can tell, and I watch fairly closely, Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Governor Pritzker have done absolutely nothing to address this rather obvious and significant problem.

35 murders within one mile of my former home, and 86 murders within a two mile range.  The only thing I can find to be the least bit thankful about, is that the many gunman are usually not very good shots.  Can't even guess the shooting totals.  And it is still very much business as usual here.  And the press would never be so bold as to ask either of these 'leaders' a single question about the shooting gallery that is Chicago.  I wonder why?

The guns largely come from Indiana with they lax gun laws. And it's only a bus stop away.

And Gary IN has triple the murder rate of Chicago.

Please don't contradict Trumper fantasies with facts! It riles them up. And they have GUNZ!

I'm pretty sure that Gary hasn't seen over 600 murders this year and the over 3200 shootings that Chicago has seen.  But I'm all for cleaning up Chicago AND Gary while we are at it.  Someone in government needs to step up to help the people that are subjected to this violence day after day.  This evening, about 8:30 a 10 year old was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound in the back.  Just another typical evening here?

Uhhhh...Gary has about 1/35 the population of Chicago...so you're not likely to see the same number of murders and shootings.

As far as "cleaning up" Chicago, etc. goes---a good first step would be to depoliticize the issue. The continual babble about Chicago being violent because it is "run by Democrats" (which isn't even true) just obscures the issue in a cloud of Hannity-farts.

Then, we could do SOMETHING about the fact that it's easier to obtain a gun than it is to buy a Slurpee. But every time anyone utters even a peep about implementing even the most modest reforms, the NRA and its Republican lackeys immediately start screaming about how THEM LIBURRULS WANTS TO TAKES AWAY OUR PRESHUZ SECOND AMENDMENT FREEDUMBS, and nothing gets done. And nothing will get done, until we cleanse this country of Republicans.

It would also help if our culture de-fetishized guns, to the point where they weren't thinly disguised penis substitutes. But it won't happen. There are far too many yahoos who go to bed at night, stroking their guns and fantasizing about killing someone.

As usual mp misstates.

Why do some areas of Chicago have little to no homicide rates & others are a war zone?

Carmel Indiana is a larger city than Gary but has a zero homicide rate.

Same state gun laws. It is not the guns, but the criminals.

If gun makers would only put an aiming "sight" on the side of the gun, then accuracy would improve dramatically.

Gary has the same horrible Liberal politicians as Chicago and Illinois.  That is why both cities never solve the problem.

No, sorry, conservatives can't change their argument when the original argument is proven to be bullshit.

the Wayne LaPierre numbskulls told us for years that a population of fully armed people without restrictions would be more peaceful.   The "bad guys with guns" would behave themselves because otherwise "good guys with guns" would fire back.  If I got a dollar every time conservatives on this board forwarded that bullshit I could pay for my next Vegas vacation.

That campaign was a complete corporate bribe to our lawmakers in the same spirit the cigarette companies did for decades.   No state in the country has less regulations on guns than Nevada and Boilerman just got done explaining to us how the gun violence is running rampant on the strip.

where aRe the good guys with the guns firing back?    Let's admit that entire propaganda campaign was complete, utter bullshit brought to you by the corrupt, fraudulent NRA...the same group that bribed Republicans to defund research at the FederL level to determine the best ways to reduce gun crimes.
